About Imperial Gunite

The year 2016 marked the 30th anniversary of Imperial Gunite. We started in this industry 37 years ago, building pools for the vinyl market. Gradually, over the years, through our dealings with the construction and architectural community, we discovered that there is a distinct need for a reliable Gunite swimming pool contractor who understands the needs and problems of the building industry. A contractor that can bring a quality project in on time at a competitive price. Hence the formation of Imperial Gunite in 1986.

Tony Vindell

Tony Vindell is a 1984 Graduate from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor of arts in environmental design and planning. Tony worked his way through college in the swimming pool trade and performed the many phases of construction personally which include excavation, steel, gunite, tiling, masonry and marbledusting.

Tony joined his partner and Imperial Gunite founder Jack Swedborg in 1988. Tony became the president of Imperial Gunite in the spring of 2000. Both partners are dedicated to bringing professionalism and organization to your project. Tony became an APSP Certified Builder in 2009.

Jack Swedborg

Jack Swedborg was born and raised on Long Island. After college, (Clarkson College of Technology) in upstate New York, he joined what was then the Long Island Lighting Company and worked in the environmental science department for 14 years. After leaving LILCO, he was a licensed electrician and a builder of custom homes.

In 1969 after finding it difficult to locate reliable contractors to build his pools, he began selling his own. Gradually, over the years, through his dealings with the construction and architectural community, he discovered that there is a distinct need for a reliable gunite swimming pool contractor who understands the needs ¬¬and problems of the building industry. A contractor that can bring a quality project in on time at a competitive price. Hence the formation of Imperial Gunite in 1986.

Jack passed away in October 2010 but his desire to create the unexpected inspires us to always push the boundaries of design.
